Happy days are here again!

Members of the Good Shepherd Community in Greenfield, IN came together recently for a jump, jive and wailin’ good time when they gathered for a time warp sock hop. The community worked together to make the evening feel fully fifties, including decor, food, and music straight from the era. Milkshakes and french fries were served, a nod to what several of the community members remembered enjoying during their teen years. Some attendees even dressed for the theme, arriving in rolled-up jeans, skirts, or satin jackets.
Community member Tim Bishop set the tone for the evening by serving as DJ for the night. Throughout the two-hour event, Tim took requests as people recalled favorite songs from their youth, including a very memorable scene when he played “Jailhouse Rock,” and the dance floor filled! Site manager LaJeana Haley said it was a welcome change from her usual responsibilities of managing building operations and supporting residents’ needs. Her role for the night was simple: have fun and encourage fun.
LeJeana said the size of their community can sometimes make it difficult to hold events, but volunteers, staff, and neighbors each played a part in preparing food, decorating the room, and helping the night come together.
“Memories shared between a few, often spread to others,” she said. “And a sense of community grows.”
