Faith is central to life throughout our communities at Graceworks. It guides our care, shapes our relationships, and shows up in both the quiet moments and the shared ones, especially in times of fellowship and reflection.

Recently at Bethany Village, Pastor Scott Nellis led a Bible study over six weeks, exploring faith through the lens of “The Chosen,” a television series that tells the story of Jesus and his ministry through an impactful lens and deeply personal perspective.
For the final session, the group welcomed fellow Daytonian Alicia Overman, who has appeared as an ‘extra’ in seasons 4, 5, and the upcoming season 6.
Alicia shared how she first discovered “The Chosen” and the unexpected journey that followed, which took her from watching an episode at home to joining the cast on set in Utah and Texas and experiencing life on the set of a major television production – even meeting the main cast members."While watching that first episode, I felt as if a voice was telling me to dig deeper," Alicia said.
Alicia’s "digging deeper" took her to social media, where she learned about the show and found a video from the creator of "The Chosen," Dallas Jenkins, and an opportunity to become a supporter and extra on the show. Alicia also attended the show’s own "Chosen Con," a convention for fans of the series.
Alicia’s insight and reflections on the experience added dimension to the Bible study discussion, highlighting how faith can reach us in both familiar and unexpected ways.
The Bible study was so successful, Pastor Scott plans to continue future studies on “The Chosen,” inviting more opportunities for conversation, connection, and shared faith.
