When people feel safe and loved, they feel valued, respected and cared for by the staff who support them and become loving and engaged members of their home and community.

That’s why Graceworks Enhanced Living continues to embrace a Gentle Teaching philosophy. Gentle Teaching is a compassionate caregiving approach that fosters a sense of belonging and engagement among the individuals we serve. It is a method of care that emphasizes the importance of caregivers by fostering relationships based on trust, respect, and unconditional acceptance.

Earlier this month, 181 Graceworks Enhanced Living team members participated in Gentle Teaching training led by Gentle Mentor Deirdre Mercer. This inspiring event marked a pivotal step in reaffirming our commitment to the Gentle Teaching philosophy.

Throughout the training employees were also reminded of the legacy of John McGee, the founder of Gentle Teaching, who had a profound relationship with Graceworks. John visited us several times a year until his passing in 2012, working directly with caregivers to instill the principles of this transformative philosophy. While continuing this mission has been challenging, the recent training reignites our dedication to living out these values every day.

As we renew our commitment to Gentle Teaching, we see its positive impact in the lives of the individuals we serve and in the sense of purpose it brings to our caregivers. Together, we are building communities that thrive on compassion and mutual respect.
